Hornet City Robotics

Delaware State University (DSU) hosted their first FIRST LEGO League (FLL) qualifying event in 2013.  In 2014 DSU partnered with For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) to run the robotics program throughout the state of Delaware, Southern New Jersey and some areas of Pennsylvania.  As of 2015, we have focused only on the state of Delaware.

This partnership has pushed DSU further into the state’s communities and has increased our outreach efforts which align with DSU core values.  Since 2013 we have spearheaded over 30 robotic events serving over 4000 students

Director’s Message

We have some exciting news for our area!

Coaches from DE, we are excited to say that our region has shrunk due to the growth in South East PA and New Jersey-South.  That is to say, with this growth big enough to join forces with the Affiliate Partners in their state and travel there instead coming way down to Dover DE for the State Championship.

So what does this mean?

There will be fewer qualifiers in the Delaware. This means that there may be one closer to home for you to attend and greater chances for you to advance!

  1. Hornet City Robotics (Delaware) will be conducting four (4) FLL Qualifying events for the 2019-2020 season.  Information about these events can be found at the FLL Events page.  Hornet City Robotics Champion’s Tournament will be held at DSU’s Early College High School (ECHS) and more information is available at Champion’s Tournament page.
  2. Teams will be able to register for any Hornet City Robotics Qualifier in Delaware. The Hornet City Robotic team has appropriately sized our qualifiers to accommodate the number of teams in the Delaware region. Currently, the only restrictions will be:  A team may only register for one qualifier.
  3. Regional event registration will be done at the Hornet City Robotics website in the beginning of October.
  4. Regional event fees for Hornet City Robotics: $45.00 to attend FLL Jr. Expo, $70 to attend a  FLL qualifier; and $65 for those who advance to the Champion’s event.

And if that was not enough!

Hornet City Robotics FIRST Jr. FLL will still be available for any team in the Delaware, or Southern NJ area.

Good luck this season! Enjoy the challenges, and remember the tournaments and expos that you attend are there for the students to showcase what they have accomplished, and what they discover is more important than what they win!
