Event Policies

Hornet City Robotics (FLL Challenge, FLL explore & FTC) Event Weather Policies:

  1. In the event of predicted inclement weather (i.e., ice storm, snow….) The Hornet City Robotics team will keep all teams updated via email.
  2. An event cancellation will be determined by the host venue and the event coordinator. The decision will be based on weather predictions or conditions at the venue.
  3. If possible, a canceled event will be rescheduled. Due to timing or venue availability, it may not be possible to reschedule. In those cases we will try to incorporate teams into other qualifiers or expos.
  4. For FLL Challenge teams: If it is not possible to incorporate teams into another event Hornet City Robotics FLL director will randomly select a finite number of teams to attend the champion’s event.
  5. For FLL Explore (previously FLL Jr.) teams: If it is not possible to incorporate teams into another event the event will be canceled.
  6. In all cases and outcomes event registration fees will not be refunded because of costs incurred by Hornet City Robotics. However, all team participation medals, shirts and trophies will be delivered to the registered teams.

Hornet City Robotics FLL challenge Champion’s Event:

  1. In the event of predicted inclement weather (i.e. ice storm, snow….) The Hornet City Robotics team will keep all teams updated via email.
  2. A canceled championship event will be rescheduled if possible.
  3. A random selection from the 1st place qualifier award winners will determine which team will advance to the FLL International Festival.
  4. In all cases and outcomes event registration fees will not be refunded because of costs incurred by Hornet City Robotics FLL. However, all team participation medals, shirts and trophies will be delivered to the registered teams.
  5. The registration fee for the FLL Challenge championship event will be $75.

 Hornet City Robotics (FLL Challenge, FLL explore & FTC) Event Flu / Illness Policy:

  1. Any participant who is showing symptoms of fatigue, muscle aches, sore throat, and coughing/congestion should be strongly advised not to participate at a tournament.
  2. Any participant with a temperature of 100 degrees F or above within 24 hours prior to a tournament should NOT participate.
  3. Coaches should encourage members of their teams to wash hands with soap and water, for 20 seconds, prior to running rounds at competition, practice, or judging tables.
  4. Coaches should encourage their teams to cover any coughs/sneezes with sleeves. If a participant sneezes/coughs into his/her hands, he/she should wash his/her hands with soap and water before continuing.
  5. Hand sanitizer will be made available for use by participants throughout the day, prior to the running of rounds or judging sessions.
